How We Teach

We believe that the best preparation involves more than just learning the content - it involves having an experienced tutor who takes the time to understand your goals, answer your questions and help you prepare in a tailored way for your assessments and exams.

Our tutoring sessions:
- run each weekend over Zoom (subject to easing over COVID restrictions, in-person tutoring is possible);
- are either private or small group (depending on the preferences of the student and their parents);
- focuses on ensuring you have a complete and deep understanding of all the content that may be assessed so that you can answer any question in an assignement or exam;
- involves a special focus on exam technique such as essay writing, multiple choice questions and exam technique;
- consistently adds the extra layer of government policy knowledge, statistics and trends that defines the top-ranking students in the course;
- involves tailored quizzes and practice papers designed to help you ace your exam results without adding an unrealistic burden to your already heavy workload;
- provides specific assistance with assignments and assessment tasks so that students have the necessary guidance to achieve the best results; and
- draws on our tutors' extensive knowledge and experience of the Economics course to guide students through the tips and tricks of the course.

"I was tutored by Sam for Economics in Years 11 and 12 and he helped me a great deal. He always explained course content really well and in a way that was easy to understand. I am the type to get very hung up on small details that don’t make sense to me, and every time I asked a question, even if it was about a tiny aspect that was barely in the scope of the course, he always took the time to explain it thoroughly.I am someone who has never enjoyed studying, but Sam made his classes enjoyable with his easygoing personality and light humour. He was also always happy to give advice about things other than the subject he taught, and was always very encouraging. He took the time to reach out to me after my HSC results came back, and took a lot of time to answer my questions when I was overwhelmed with the amount of decisions I needed to make regarding university.Sam was a great support for me to have, helping me achieve marks in Economics that I couldn’t have gotten on my own, and supporting me in areas outside of the subject as well."Jessica Bui, North Sydney Girls

“Sam’s teaching is very clear and he is a very knowledgeable teacher. I remember him helping me understand complicated HSC concepts by breaking them down into simpler and more understandable terms.Furthermore, Sam is a very approachable mentor. His openness and desire to help others succeed made it easy for me to ask him for help outside of the classroom.Thanks to Sam I was able to do better than I expected in the HSC and was able to transition smoothly into uni life as he also provided helpful advice in relation to starting uni."Brian Chhoueng, Sydney Technical High School

“Sam was a wonderful mentor during my HSC! He was knowledgable, approachable and very friendly. He went above and beyond to make sure I understood the content."Helen Wang, St George Girls High School (now a student at UNSW Law)

"Sam was my tutor for economics during my HSC and was instrumental in helping me achieve a band 6. With his clear approach to deconstructing content, continual quizzing to test key concepts and constructive feedback on all my work I could understand the greater nuances of Economics and more broadly - what was needed to succeed in the HSC."Yash Bhatt, Bachelor of Commerce/Economics Student, UNSW

"Sam helps you see the bigger picture, helping you understand the importance of what you are learning and the key concepts and ideas that should be focused on within topics. He also really focuses on working on your weaknesses, helping to improve your confidence, skills, and techniques in the areas you struggle with most. It was this kind of focused learning and ongoing support that he provided which made Sam a phenomenal tutor and mentor. I still use the techniques and skills he taught me to this day."Rabiba Pervez, UNSW Law Student (tutored by Sam through the UNSW Law Peer Tutor program)

"Sam has been an incredible mentor and friend. The legal foundations which he instilled upon me early in my degree allowed me to develop a genuine understanding for course content. This was really useful in proving my marks throughout my degree, as well as allowing me to genuinely learn new things from my courses. He has endless patience and dedication to his students, and his advice has allowed me to flourish in my academic and professional life. Thank you Sam!"Lesley Lam, UNSW Law Student (tutored by Sam through the UNSW Law Peer Tutor program)
